Hi, I’m Sevan!

Blessings! My name is Sevan, I also am known as Cat. I use they/them pronouns but don’t mind if people use she/her. I’m a white-passing mixed-poc, neurodivergent, nonbinary Mama living with chronic illness, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here!

Some of my experiences include childhood sexual abuse, wounds of abandonment, displacement, belonging, dysmorphia, scarcity, generational trauma from sexual abuse and surviving genocide, people-pleasing / fawning, and finding my voice to be able to live with integrity (from Latin “integer” meaning “intact”) and authenticity.

Within the pain, pleasures, and karmic hands I’ve been dealt, the most important thing I’ve learned on my journey thus far is that all things in my path are placed by Grace, and that we hold immense wisdom if we can slow down enough to listen and learn the language of the heart. I believe that we all have the innate ability to heal ourselves and in doing so, the world.

I come from a long matrilineal line of psychics and healers and am initiated in various lineages and spiritual traditions of my direct DNA ancestry or ones I’ve been blessed and invited into.

I also have the honor (and karma) of being blessed by the 14th Dalai Lama, Gyalwa Rinpoche when I was 8 months in my mother’s womb. My Mother says he saw she was pregnant at a gathering just after he won the Noble Peace Prize in 1989, came over and put his hand on her belly, one in her hand, and his forehead to hers, and she felt a zap! of electricity!

With over a decade of personal practice, study, and a lifetime of divinely determined experiences, I offer a variety of transformational tools to the greater community, which brings me joy and satisfaction as a fulfillment of my purpose here on Earth.

I’ve been offering spiritual guidance and healing work for free for a very long time, and as income-generating work since 2013. The birth of my first biological child led me to birthwork, which propelled me to End of Life/Death Doula work to connect the circle of life, death, and rebirth. I have a long work history of nannying, advanced disease and dementia caregiving, and various levels of service work. Caregiving and community are a huge part of who I am.

It’s been a prayer of mine from a young age to help others in loving, authentic ways (my Mom has plenty stories to support this). To serve for the highest good of all, the liberation of all beings, and the healing of our planet, to assist, however, I can in the journey for peace, harmony, love, and freedom. To shed layers of repetitive patterns and responses conditioned by colonial, patriarchal, heteronormative, religiously oppressive, and hegemonic forces and rediscover our power and our birthrights to love, live, rest, and play without fear or agenda.

My own healing path continues as I learn this dance of life. In the waves of rebirths and remembering, I desire to share my experiences and be a resource for the empowerment of others. I aim to deepen my practices and skills for myself, my family, my ancestors, my community, the Earth. May all my actions, thoughts, and deeds be good and right and for the benefit of all beings.

MORE ABOUT ME

I am Mama to a biological child and a stepchild with my co-parent. I consider parenting and caregiving to be a spiritual path; my children and I are mystical partners. Being non-binary, I still fully embrace being Mother and feeling into the archetype and its wisdom.

I love exploring creative ways to express through movement, sound, music (see the link at the bottom of the website!), and writing. I spend most of my time listening and responding in some way, whether it's with myself, my children, my clients, to Spirit. In that, I find my deepest yoga practice, one that goes beyond asana, mudra, or mantra, and into presence, connection, and relationship.

I love dancing with my kids, studying various styles of movement (currently it’s Butoh), freestyle baking, watching movies, napping in the sun, dream-tracker, digging my toes in the dirt, reading mythology & fantasy, singing, star-gazing, UFOs, and devotional snake caretaking.

I am an ocean, a lake, a body of water cradled by earth and mountain, and filled with singing stars.

MY ANCESTORS

As far as what is most culturally influential to me, with stories that are alive and most present in my DNA, I am Armenian. My Grandmother immigrated to the U.S. in the 60s from Lebanon with my Grandfather who was a shepherd in a small village in Armenia, bringing the rest of the family with her. She gave birth to my Uncle in Beirut, and to my mother in California. She helped my parents raise my sister and me until we moved to Wisconsin where my Father’s family is. I mostly identify with my Armenian side as a 2nd generation diasporic person, raised in the culture, language, foods, and customs of my Armenian and Lebanese ancestors. I’m also Baltic & Latine.

I continue to learn about my ancestral roots through researching culture, food, folklore, music, dance, history, and personal lineage healing work. Many of these lineages inform my studies, practices, and passion for decolonizing myself, offerings, and way of life.

MY SPIRITS & POWERS

I actively tend to my Spirit relationships as I would a best friend or lover. Some are named and some are unnamed, seen and unseen, but all graciously received, felt, and honored.

I primarily connect with deities indigenous to Asia Minor, Ancient Anatolia, the Armenian Highlands, & SWANA regions (many known today by their Greek names), as well as Yogic & Buddhist deities.

As an animist that lives with shamanic principles and continues to learn in indigenous, ancestral, relational ways, I experience awareness of the connectedness of all things and know all other-than-human beings to be our relatives.

The Postpartum Healing Lodge, Anishinaabe Postpartum Wisdom & Rituals with Raeanne Madison *.

“Birth is a ceremony that breaks open the doors between this world and the next. Birth is an experience that both ruptures and repairs the mind, body, and spirit. Our traditional postpartum rituals, wisely passed down from our ancestors, complete the birthing ceremony and protect the birthing person from illness and fatigue. These rituals close the door between worlds. This is the postpartum healing lodge.”
